HERBARIUM

HERBARIUM is a fictional Antwerp perfume house we set up as a plant museum. Move over the bottle and you see the plant the scent comes from — every scent has an origin, and the site's one trick means exactly that.

Hero of the HERBARIUM site — a glass perfume bottle on limestone next to the headline 'Museum van planten'

01 · The idea

A perfume house as a museum

Dutch copy with Latin scent names, cream paper and a gold measured from a photo of resin. It reads like an old botanical archive — and it's built to be sold as a real client site: every client string lives in one config file, the markup contains none.

02 · The trick

A wipe that means something

Under the bottle sits a second image: the same stone, the same light, but with the lily and the resin the scent is made of. Both were generated from one master with inpainting, so only the bottle changes — the rest stays pixel for pixel identical. That's why the wipe reads as a window, not a crossfade.

Your cursor leaves an organic trail on a canvas that masks the top layer, with a warm gold glow following it. Further down, the same trick plays out full-width: the atelier's worktable dissolves into the field the plants came from.

03 · The site

Five specimens, three stories, one film

A rail of five specimen cards that unfold in place, three subpages on origin, distillation and storage, and a gilded border around every full-width photo — real photographed carving, keyed and tiled, not a CSS pattern.

The lily gets its own scroll film: the fall from flower to bottle, played as frames on a canvas so it scrubs smoothly on phones too. All of it with zero dependencies and an opening veil that only waits for the fonts and the hero.
